Puglia Travel Guide: il Gargano

My favorite Italian region beside Basilicata is Puglia without any doubt.

In this area you can discover the most authentic taste of Italy: from breathtaking sites to amazing food, culture, traditions and of course charismatic people.

The Gargano is a not-so-well sponsored area in the northern part of the Apulia region and it host a wild landscape with bright white rocks overlooking the clear blue water of the Adriatic sea.

WHAT TO SEE

Little towns

Peschici

Vieste

Beaches

Spiaggia di Pizzomunno (Vieste)

Baia delle Zagare (Mattinata) - this is one of my favorite beaches so far

Baia Zaiana (Peschici)

Spiaggia dei 100 Scalini (San Menaio)

Baia di San Felice (Vieste)

Other places and activities

Boat trip to the coast from Vieste to Mattinata (25€ for 3 hours)

The Foresta Umbra

WHERE TO STAY

I stayed in a 4 stars Hotel  Le Ginestre very comfortable that offered a continental breakfast, a nice swimming pool and a spa to get pumpered. Good for families. A special thanks to Noemi e Giuseppe for their precious help and cheerfulness. You are amazing!

WHAT TO EAT

Don’t leave the region without ever tasting the very special olives: doubled in the size and very juicy.
Stop at Ristorante Vecchia Vieste to get the local taste and a romantic experience. But don’t miss out with Al Trabucco da Mimí, a must around here for it’s incredible atmosphere..I don’t wanna spoiler more: just go there. Highly, highly recommended!

TIPS

Streets here are not the best so make sure to have a gps on hand. Plus renting a car is a good
move due to the fact that most of the turistic sites aren’t reachable by transports.

If you have some extra time make the trip and go visit the Tremiti islands in front of Peschici.

Have you ever visited Puglia? Let me know your impressions!
